Pakistan’s top batsman Babar Azam on Wednesday dismissed criticism that he had no authority as captain and that he would follow the decisions of head coach Misbah-ul-Haq. Recently, former captain Shoaib Malik had indicated in the tweet that Babur himself does not take decisions. Some other former captains and players also advised Babar to take independent decisions. Babur said in a virtual press conference, ‘I do not understand, but it is often said in the media that I do not have authority and I do not take decisions myself.’ He said, ‘I want to clarify that I have full authority in team selection and other matters. I have taken all the decisions on the field and I decide the last XI. The management gives its opinion. As a captain, I feel my responsibilities. No problem with the coach
Babar Azam said that he has no problem with the coach. He said that the team management is supporting all the players. I am happy all the players. However, many old stalwarts have demanded a new coach for limited overs cricket. There is a debate on this in the Pakistan Cricket Board as well. The Test series of the two matches between Pakistan and Zimbabwe starts on 29 April Thursday. Earlier, T20 series Pakistan had won 2–1. Regarding the Test series, Babar Azam said that only the players who landed in the series played against South Africa at home will be given a chance. The Zimbabwean team may be far below the rankings. But we will not take it lightly. He has experience of home ground.
