Women created history by occupying 40 out of 88 seats of Gram Panchayat in Gautam Buddha Nagar

In the gram panchayat elections held two days ago, the post of women was reserved for 30 percent of the gram panchayats in Gautam Budh Nagar, but women occupied 44 percent of the gram panchayats.

Noida Women have created history by winning 40 out of the 88 seats in the Gram Panchayat held in Gautam Budh Nagar. In the gram panchayat elections held two days ago, the post of women was reserved for 30 percent of the gram panchayats in Gautam Budh Nagar, but women occupied 44 percent of the gram panchayats. Women have been elected village head in about half the panchayats of the district.

Of these, 15 village heads are women whose counterparts were men. In Dadri development block, 17 women have become village head. In Bisarkh, 12 women have won the election of village head, while in 11 panchayats in Jewar region, women have won their seats. District Information Officer Rakesh Chauhan on Tuesday released the list of 88 victorious Gram Panchayat heads of Gautam Budh Nagar. The number of gram panchayats in Bisarkha block is 24.

Due to 30 percent reservation, the principal posts in eight gram panchayats were reserved for women. Apart from these eight gram panchayats, there are four such gram panchayats in Bisarkh where women defeated men and occupied prime positions. There are 30 gram panchayats in Dadri block, out of which 17 gram panchayats will be ruled by women. The district has the highest number of 34 gram panchayats in Jewar block. But compared to Dadri and Bisark, the number of female village heads has been reduced here. 11 gram panchayats in Jewar were reserved for women. In terms of education, out of the village heads won in Gautam Buddha Nagar, there are only six heads who have studied up to graduation while 11 heads are illiterate. 19 village princes have only primary education and nine heads have studied up to the eighth grade. The remaining 48 per cent of the village heads are 10th and 12th pass. Due to urbanization of the villages of the district, the number of gram panchayats has come down from 243 to just 88.
