Raina said, “Some leaders are still dreaming of restoring Article 370 which gave rise to separatism, terrorism and Pakistani ideology in Jammu and Kashmir and lakhs of lives have been lost and people have suffered. It is impossible to restore it. It cannot be restored till doomsday happens.” Raina, former deputy chief ministers Nirmal Singh and Kavinder Gupta had attended an all-party meeting on Jammu and Kashmir, chaired by the Prime Minister, on June 24. Raina said that the said meeting has ended the political deadlock in the Union Territory for nearly two and a half years. Asked about PDP President Mehbooba Mufti’s claim that she would not participate in the elections till Article 370 is not restored, Raina said the registered political parties should now go ahead and work for the welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
