Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said on Friday that Ayodhya In Ram Mandir Trust The alleged financial irregularities in the purchase of land by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) And Enforcement Directorate (ED) is a “suitable case” for investigation. He said that the BJP’s national executive should pass a resolution demanding probe into the land issue by these agencies. He said this in response to a question asked by reporters in the context of raids conducted on Friday on the premises of former state home minister Anil Deshmukh in Mumbai and Nagpur as part of money laundering probe.

Taking a dig at the Maharashtra unit of the BJP in its executive meeting passing a resolution demanding CBI and ED probe against Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Shiv Sena minister Anil Parab, Raut said, “CBI and ED are yours. Are you a party worker or a member of your IT cell? The Rajya Sabha member alleged that the BJP has undermined the importance of central investigative agencies – CBI and ED – by “using them to target their political opponents”. Raut asked, “Misuse of central investigative agencies is not right. It should be stopped. It is understandable if investigative agencies investigate matters of national security, damage to national treasury, money laundering etc. But why are you tarnishing the image of these agencies?” The Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government will complete its two years this year. He said that this government will remain stable for the next three years. “These tactics to destabilize the government will not work,” he said.

Meanwhile, speaking to reporters in Pune, State Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil said, “Anil Deshmukh’s case is sub-judice and it would not be appropriate to comment on ED’s action against him.” Responding to a question, he said it was shocking that the ED raids took place a day after the BJP proposed a CBI and ED probe against Ajit Pawar and Anil Parab. He said, “It is time to focus only on Kovid-19. But the BJP is doing wrong things at the wrong time.” In Nagpur, protested against the ED by holding a dharna outside Deshmukh’s residence. NCP workers, led by the party’s city unit president Duneshwar Pethe, raised slogans against the central government and termed it as “autocratic”. Talking to reporters, Pethe accused the central government of misusing the CBI and ED and maligning the image of the MVA government.
