IND vs ENG : Team India suffered a crushing eight-wicket defeat at the hands of New Zealand in the final of the ICC World Test Championship. Now Indian team has to play test series against England. Meanwhile, the wait for Indian captain Virat Kohli’s century is getting longer. It should be expected that Virat Kohli scores a century in the England Test series and ends the drought. The drought of Indian captain Virat Kohli, who is battling poor form, to score a century in Test cricket, continues. Virat Kohli has been battling poor form for more than a year and a half. He last scored a century in Tests in November 2019 against Bangladesh. Since then, his average in Tests has been 24.64. Although his performance in ODIs is slightly better and his average is 43.26.
Virat Kohli could become the most Test scorer in his career, six steps away from Sachin Tendulkar’s 49 ODI hundreds. After scoring his last Test century in November 2019, Virat Kohli has scored three half-centuries in eight Tests. Virat Kohli had scored two half-centuries against England in Chennai. Apart from this, he scored a half-century in the Test match played against Australia in Adelaide.
Since November 2019, Virat Kohli has scored 649 runs in 15 ODIs. Kohli has been a little better in ODIs than in Tests and has scored eight fifties but has failed to score a Test century. Former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar says the drought of a century will be on Virat Kohli’s mind but he will recover from it. Sanjay Bangar told a channel that Virat Kohli is close to 7500 Test runs and this is a format where he can give everything comfortably. However, T20 is the only format in which Virat Kohli has improved. Since the last century, Kohli has scored 709 runs in T20s at an average of 64.45.
