Minor fire breaks out in emergency ward of Delhi’s AIIMS, no casualty reported

According to the police, Hauz Khas police station received a call from the police control room at around 5.15 am about the fire and on reaching AIIMS, sparks and smoke were seen rising from the spot. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Atul Kumar Thakur said, all the patients present in the vicinity have been evacuated.

New Delhi. A fire broke out in a room adjacent to the Operation Theater (OT) of the Emergency Department at Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Monday morning. Delhi Fire Service gave this information. He said that there were no casualties during this period. Director of Delhi Fire Services Atul Garg said that the information about the fire in the OT of the emergency department was received at 5:4 am and seven fire tenders were sent to AIIMS. He said the fire was brought under control very quickly. The fire started in the storage room adjacent to the OT.

He said the situation was now normal and under control and there were no casualties. Police said that investigation is on to find out the cause of the fire.
