Mumbai. At least 35 people were rescued after a major part of the roof of the third floor of a five-storey building collapsed in the Fort area of south Mumbai on Friday morning. There was no casualty in the accident at Ashapura building on Vaju Kotak Marg, a fire brigade official said. The rescue work is still going on.
“During repairs, a major part of the third floor roof collapsed, blocking access through the stairs,” the official said. At least 35 people have been rescued by the fire department.” A municipal official said that the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) had taken up the repair work of the old building. Apart from the fire brigade personnel, municipal officials also reached the spot. Detailed information on the incident is yet to be received.
