Maharashtra will extend the lockdown for 15 days even after April 30: Health Minister


Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said on Wednesday that the lockdown would be extended for 15 days even after April 30 in the state. He said that in the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, all the cabinet members demanded to increase the lockdown.

He said that in the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, all the cabinet members demanded to increase the lockdown. Tope said, “It (the lockdown) will be extended for 15 days.”

Significantly, in view of the increasing cases of Kovid-19 in Maharashtra, the state government imposed a nighttime curfew on April 4 till 30 April to prevent weekend lockdown and night movement on weekdays. In view of the huge increase in the cases of infection, the state government has imposed many restrictions, including the closure of private offices, salons, theaters.

At present, the weekend lockdown is effective from 8 pm Friday night to 7 am Monday. The state government later directed to open grocery, vegetable shops and dairies for only four hours from seven in the morning to 11 in the morning.
