He said, “It seems that the accused has duped many people by telling that he is in charge of several development projects.” Earlier in the day, Kolkata Police Commissioner Somen Mitra said that a person claiming to be an IAS officer was Organizing fake COVID-19 vaccination camps by individuals is an act of perverted mindset. “What Debanjan did was very inhumane,” Mitra told reporters. Only a person with a perverted mindset can do such a thing. Police on Wednesday arrested Debanjan, who had organized a COVID-19 vaccination camp in Kasba area, claiming to be an IAS officer. Ruling Trinamool Congress MP Mimi Chakraborty also took a dose of vaccine in this camp. Chakraborty got suspicious about the vaccination process when he did not receive the SMS, which usually comes on the mobile phone of every person taking a dose of vaccine. After this Chakraborty complained to the police.

Police recovered several vials of antibiotic vaccine Amikacin from the vaccination camp. Police are also probing Debanjan’s political links. He probably organized the vaccination camp with the help of his political contacts. Debanjan used to describe himself as working as Joint Commissioner in Kolkata Municipal Corporation. He also used the state government’s emblem on his car. He had also opened many fake accounts in the name of several officials of Kolkata Municipal Corporation.
