Free period project campaign started in 2017
Amika said that I want the youth to see that we are being recognized and if we are ready to face such things then we can create something better. He started the Free Period Project campaign at the age of 17. She says that she was so upset that some girls were missing from school every month during the period because they were so poor that they could not afford period products. For this Amika filed a petition and had a meeting with the ministers.
After all these efforts of Amika, the UK government funded 2020 educational institutions for all kinds of things related to the period for free. Amika says that I accept this award on behalf of my family and community, who have been silently tolerating racism for decades. At the same time, Amika’s parents are also very happy with her effort.
Amika’s mother expressed happiness
Amika’s mother Nisha says that we are really happy that we have seen Amika working hard in the last four years amidst academics and her campaign. She wanted to do a goal and we are glad that she has been recognized as such. At the same time, Amika says that today I am feeling proud to be a young British Indian.
