India shamed in Kashmir issue as it was because of vaccines: Mamata

Mamata Banerjee made this statement in the backdrop of meeting of leaders of various political parties from Jammu and Kashmir with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. “I have no information about this meeting,” he told reporters. I don’t even know the agenda of this meeting.

Kolkata. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday claimed that the abrogation of full statehood of Jammu and Kashmir by the BJP-led central government has put the country to shame in the same way as the issue of Kovid-19 vaccines. Banerjee made this statement in the backdrop of a meeting of leaders of several political parties from Jammu and Kashmir with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. “I have no information about this meeting,” he told reporters. I don’t even know the agenda of this meeting.

The Trinamool Congress president said the abolition of full statehood of Jammu and Kashmir and its bifurcation did not help the country in any way. On August 5, 2019, the Central Government abolished the special status enjoyed by Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 and bifurcated it into two Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. “What was the need to abolish full statehood (of Jammu and Kashmir)? This did not help the country at all. Tourists have not been able to visit Kashmir for the last two years. It has become a question of prestige of the country.” He said, “There autocracy has brought much disrepute to the country the way Kovid vaccines have done.” Banerjee did not say much on the subject of vaccines. However, she has been speaking out against the short supply of vaccines, different rates and not having a uniform vaccination policy. At one point he criticized India’s export of vaccines for its low stock. The Chief Minister on Wednesday claimed that the vaccine is the brainchild of the Prime Minister and it should be approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) or steps should be taken to get it global acceptance.
