New Delhi. Security has been tightened at Jantar Mantar in central Delhi in view of the plan of farmers to protest against the three agriculture laws of the Center during the Mansutra of Parliament. Jantar Mantar is only a few meters away from the Parliament House. Tight security arrangements have been made, officials said. Police and paramilitary personnel have been deployed. A group of 200 farmers with police protection will come to Jantar Mantar from Singhu border in buses and protest there from 11 am to 5 pm.

The United Kisan Morcha (SKM) has been asked to give an affidavit in this regard, stating that all the rules of Kovid-19 will be followed and the movement will be peaceful. This is the first time since the violence that broke out in the national capital during a tractor parade on January 26 this year, when the authorities have allowed protesting farmers to enter the city. It is worth noting that farmers have been protesting since November last year at Tikri border, Singhu border and Ghazipur border adjoining Delhi. They demand that all three agriculture laws should be withdrawn and legal guarantee of minimum support price be given. However, the government says that these laws are farmer friendly. Several rounds of talks between the government and the protesting farmers have been fruitless.
