highlights

  • The coming few decades are not easy for the global population.
  • Malnutrition, water scarcity and infectious diseases are big challenges
  • Decreased quality of food grains and it is impossible to control inflation

United Nations:

The havoc of hunger, drought and diseases on the global population facing Corona Epidemic will be more severe in the coming decades. Children born in 2021 will have to face these dangers for at least the next 3 decades. A recent analysis by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) warns of the same. According to the IPCC, the knock of the corona epidemic in 2020 shook the whole world. The distressing news in this sequence is that the coming few decades will not be easy for the global population. Malnutrition, water scarcity and infectious diseases will emerge as major challenges to human health. Probably in view of this, developed countries have started working on the measures to deal with them in time.

Inflation will also break the waist
The IPCC has said in its draft report that policies like promoting vegetarianism will be effective in dealing with the dangers on the health front, but they cannot be completely avoided. It will be almost impossible to control the destruction of crops, the impending decline in the quality of staple food grains and rising inflation. With modest progress in tackling global warming and carbon emissions, children born in 2021 will continue to face health problems by the time they turn 30.

effects of climate change

  • IPCC’s blueprint of the impact of climate change on the earth in a report of 4 thousand pages
  • The threat of hunger in front of 80 million more global population will be dire in 2050
  • More than 80 percent of the population vulnerable to hunger in African and South-East Asian countries

Farming crisis in India

  • The report fears that about 40 percent of the paddy producing areas in India may not be suitable for cultivation.
  • Disruption of the water cycle in the sub-Saharan region resulting in a decline in the yield of crops dependent on it for yield

    food security at risk

  • Global corn production decreased by 4 percent since 1981 due to climate change
  • Production of jowar decreased by 15 percent in West Africa, a decline of 20 percent was seen in the yield of millet

    decline in nutritional value

  • There is a possibility of reducing the availability of protein by 14 percent in paddy, wheat, potato and barley.
  • Due to this there is a danger of causing protein deficiency in the body of more than 150 million people.

    Inflation will increase further

  • Food inflation to triple by 2050 due to reduced grain production and increased demand for organic crops
  • It will be difficult for the people belonging to 18.3 crore additional poor families to raise bread for two times.
  • 1 crore more children will face malnutrition, stunting despite economic-social development

Water problem will deepen

  • By 2050, 3 to 140 million people are at risk of internal displacement due to water scarcity, agricultural crisis and sea level rise in Africa, South-East Asia and Latin America.
  • More than 50 percent of the global population is already facing water crisis, due to climate change, almost three-fourth reduction in the level of groundwater will see 2.5 billion more people crave for water
  • The rapid melting of icy rocks is also a cause for concern, these rocks are an important source of clean water for two billion people, due to the lack of water, the global GDP is expected to decline by 0.5 percent by 2050

    diseases will wreak havoc

  • There will be an increase in the population of other organisms, including mosquitoes, which spread deadly diseases from the constantly warming earth.
  • More than half of the global population will become more vulnerable to infectious diseases such as dengue, yellow fever and Zika
  • Cases of death of children due to diarrhea will also increase, increase in air pollution will deepen the risk of lung and heart diseases.
