Colombo. Sri Lanka former prime minister of Ranil Wickremesinghe On Wednesday, creating history in the country’s politics, took oath as an MP for the ninth time in a row. He has become the first leader of the country to reach Parliament continuously since 1977. Wickremesinghe United National Party (UNP) since 1994. However, his party suffered a setback in the 2020 parliamentary elections and suffered a crushing defeat.

Wickremesinghe, who was Prime Minister of Sri Lanka four times, was defeated in the Parliamentary elections of August 2020 and Wickremesinghe has reached Parliament through the seat in the account of UNP in the list of members to be appointed on the basis of votes cast at the national level.
