ED raids former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh’s premises in Nagpur, Mumbai


The Enforcement Directorate on Friday conducted searches against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh at his premises in Nagpur and Mumbai in connection with a money laundering probe.

New Delhi. The Enforcement Directorate on Friday conducted searches against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh at his premises in Nagpur and Mumbai in connection with a money laundering probe. The raids were conducted under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and also at Deshmukh’s residence in Nagpur, officials said.

The central probe agency had last month registered a criminal case against Deshmukh (71) and others under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act after going through a CBI FIR. The CBI had conducted a preliminary inquiry after filing a case on the orders of the Bombay High Court following which the ED registered the case. The High Court had asked the CBI to probe the bribery allegations leveled against Deshmukh by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh.
