EC lodges FIR against 13 candidates for violation of Kovid-19 rules


The Election Commission till Friday lodged FIRs against 13 candidates contesting the remaining seventh and eighth phases of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly for alleged violation of the Kovid-19 security protocol and issued show cause notices to 33 candidates.

Kolkata. The Election Commission till Friday lodged FIRs against 13 candidates contesting the remaining seventh and eighth phases of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly for alleged violation of the Kovid-19 security protocol and issued show cause notices to 33 candidates.

In a digital meeting, a full bench of the commission directed the officials to continue to “deal strictly with” candidates violating the Kovid-19 protocol, an official said. The official said that out of the 13 candidates against whom the FIRs have been filed, six are from Birbhum district.
