6,116 new corona cases, seven more patients die in Odisha


He said that 3,546 of the new cases belong to the segregation centers, while the remaining 2,570 patients came into contact with those who came in contact with the infected. The health department official said that so far seven Kovid-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the number of people who lost their lives in the epidemic to 1,988 in the state. According to the official, Sunday was the third consecutive day when more than 6000 new cases were reported in the state. He said that 3,546 of the new cases belong to the segregation centers, while the remaining 2,570 patients came into contact with those who came in contact with the infected. The official said seven people died in the last 24 hours, including two in Raigad and one each in Ganjam-Kalahandi-Khurda-Puri-Sundergarh. He said that 45,949 patients are under treatment in the state while 3,59,467 patients have been cured. According to the official, the number of patients undergoing treatment in 12 districts is more than one thousand. Meanwhile, Sunday was the second day of weekend lockdown in Odisha. Deputy Commissioner of Police SK Priyadarshi said that the people living under the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate are cooperating with the administration and are not exiting the lockdown enforced to prevent infection. Police, however, said that six cases have been registered against 19 people for violating the lockdown rules from Saturday morning to Sunday morning, confiscation of 200 vehicles and a fine of Rs 16,05,800.
